Producing PPE to combat COVID-19 in Rwanda
Garment manufacturer and exporter C&D Products/Pink Mango Group was established in 1998 in Hong Kong. It manufactures and exports bags, garments, home textiles and packaging for a wide range of internationally recognised brands. The group has formed strategic partnerships with factories in India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Ethiopia and Rwanda. In 2019, Pink Mango acquired and upgraded an export-led garments factory in Rwanda that employs 1,000 workers.
Electric Truck Deal Support – Global Vehicle Trust (Gvt)
UK company Global Vehicle Trust (GVT) was founded to tackle the transport shortage that prevents growth in developing countries. It aims to provide cost effective transport to enable communities to undertake crucial daily tasks, such as collecting drinking water and transporting grain, fertiliser and building materials. It has created the OX, the first flat-pack all-terrain utility vehicle that is designed to be manufactured locally.
Circular Economy Case Study
This project could bring an exceptional level of transformation to Rwanda in terms of revenues, employment – particularly of youth and women-led SMEs that dominate the leather sector – and new skills in:

From March to June 2020, Manufacturing Africa provided a team of analysts to support the BSR by providing structure and systems, conducting deep stakeholder consultations, drawing on global COVID-19 response expertise and conducting detailed analysis to support and accelerate fact-based decision-making at Cabinet level.
