MA Advisor Speaks on Electric Vehicles and Green Energy in Africa.

MA Senegal’s FCDO Advisor Claire O’Neill was a panelist at the IFC’s 4th Global Manufacturing Conference whose theme was Accelerating Solutions for Sustainable Manufacturing. Her panel focused on how Africa can position itself in the global value chains for EVs and Green Energy.

Held in Vienna, Austria the conference brought together leading manufacturers, government leaders, industry experts, and financial and development institutions to network, share experiences, and explore new technologies and business models that companies can leverage to accelerate solutions for sustainable manufacturing.

Drawing on MA’s work on green manufacturing, Claire shared learnings from some of the flagship deals supported by the programme including electric mobility companies in Kenya, Nigeria and Rwanda. She also highlighted the opportunities for African countries to become leading global suppliers of materials and equipment needed for the energy transition and some of the hurdles in attracting green manufacturing investment and projects.

Commenting on the opportunity, Claire thanked IFC for the platform to share insights on FCDO’s Manufacturing Africa programme alongside renowned industry experts. She said, “It was enlightening to exchange views with experts in the field.”

IFC thanked MA for its participation and stated that they were delighted to see so many organizations working on sustainability matters for economic development that help people and the planet; and they are proud to be working to strengthen sustainable manufacturing.
