As Africa’s second-largest cement emitter, Nigeria faces a 1.8x rise in production emissions by 2035. This study identifies waste-to-energy as the most immediate decarbonisation lever, capable of cutting emissions by 35% within three years by replacing fossil fuels with local agricultural waste and municipal solid waste.
